ADD/EDIT/DELETE RECORDS:
Adding:
When you add a new record you can choose
either "Insert Record" or "Append Record". If
you choose to insert a record, the new entry
will be added before the currently selected
(highlighted) record. If you choose to append a record, the new
record will be added to the end of the file.
Once you've clicked on "Append" or "Insert", just enter the information
for the new record, field by field, in the ("Current Record") listbox
on the left side of the screen. You can click on any field to go to
that field or you can hit the ENTER key to move down one field and
the PAGE UP key to move up one field. If you're adding records where
one or more fields stay the same from record to record, you can press
the F2 key to copy a field value from the previous record.
As you enter the information it's automatically updated into the
newly created record in the listbox on the right side of the
screen. If you decide to cancel that record, click "Delete" and
answer "YES" to remove that entry.
Editing:
To make changes to an existing record, click on that record in the
listbox on the right side of the main screen. The information for
that record will load automatically into the listbox on the left
side of the screen (the "Current Record" box). As you key your
changes the record you selected will be updated automatically.
Since alphanumeric fields can contain up to 63,999 characters, it
can be awkward trying to edit a field with a considerable amount
of text. If you right-click on an alphanumeric field (in the
'Current Record' box), a window will open with the text displayed
so that you can view and edit it; when you're done, click the
"Exit" button and the main screen will re-display.
You can also right-click on External, Memo, and Graphic fields
to display the field contents for viewing and editing.
Deleting:
To remove an existing record, click on that record in the listbox
on the right side of the main screen. dBworxPE will then ask if
it's OK to delete that item -- answer "Yes" and the record will be
removed.
You can also delete one or more records by selection - just click
the checkbox next to the entries you want to remove, then click
"Delete Selected Records" under the "Records" menu. dBworxPE will
automatically remove any item that has a checkmark by it.
Duplicating:
You can copy an entry by right-clicking on it in the listbox on the
right side of the screen. dBworxPE will ask if you want to duplicate
that record and if you answer "Yes" an identical entry will be
created (immediately following the original one) and loaded for
editing.
